KUCHING’s coastal district of Lundu, in the southern-most tip of the state, has lost its green-zone status with a single positive Covid-19 infection detected today.
While Sarawak’s green zone lost one district, it gained another two when Asajaya and Sri Aman moved out of the yellow zone to the green after having not recorded a single infection in 14 days.
The yellow zone comprise those with between one and 40 active Covid-19 cases, while red zones are those with 41 or more active cases.
Only two districts in the state, Kuching and Samarahan, are categorised as red zones.
Kuching, the most populous district in the state, has seen 330 people contracting the infection, killing 10 of them.
Neighbouring Samarahan has recorded 109 infections and four deaths.
The state Disaster Management Committee said three people have recovered from Covid-19 and were discharged from Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching today, pushing the survival rate in the state from the extremely contagious virus to 61.27%.
In tightening the state’s screening rules for Sarawakians returning from overseas, the peninsula, Sabah and Labuan, the committee said the SOP is for for them to go straight into quarantine.
After 10 days, a swab test will be conducted and if they test negative, they will be allowed to head home after completing 14 days in quarantine.
Those returning from green zones in the peninsula, Sabah or Labuan will be transported to a hotel to serve their quarantine and where a swab test will immediately be conducted.
If found negative, they will be allowed to head home, albeit under a stay home notice. – May 7, 2020.
