WHILE public transport will be allowed to resume services as usual from tomorrow, passenger capacity will be halved, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“Public transport users and operators are reminded to adhere to the government’s guidelines at all times. This includes social distancing and maintaining social hygiene,” he said at his daily Covid-19 briefing today.
Security personnel, including police and soldiers, will be monitoring the situation on the ground to ensure full compliance to safety measures.
As for private vehicles, a maximum of four family members from the same household are allowed to travel together at a time.
For instance, if the load capacity is 40 people, then only 20 people will be allowed on board at a time.
He said there will also be demarcation lines for standing positions on public transport, such as LRT and MRT, to ensure social distancing.

Premises found to have breached SOPs will be closed and the public too can help in reporting breaches.
Yesterday, 414 people were arrested for violating the MCO, bringing the total number of arrests to 23,680.
