TAN Kok Wai (DAP-Cheras) was ordered out of the Dewan Rakyat by Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee for defying instructions.
Deputy Federal Territories Minister Loga Bala Mohan was wrapping up his Budget 2018 debate when he said many gambling dens in Cheras “used” Tan’s name.
An angry Tan then asked Kiandee to demand a retraction from Loga.
Kiandee then asked Loga to retract the statement which the latter refused on the grounds that it was not an accusation but an assumption.
“I did not accuse yang berhormat. My statement was taken from outsider’s assumptions,” said Loga.
Kiandee accepted Loga’s explanation and requested Tan to sit down but he refused, which prompted the deputy speaker to order Tan to leave the Dewan Rakyat for disrupting proceedings.
At a press conference after the ruckus, Tan said he had no intention of challenging Kiandee’s decision but only wanted justice as he was accused of something he did not do.
Tan also said Loga’s accusation was irresponsible.
“I stood up because I wanted the deputy speaker to be fair in making decisions, to make the deputy minister retract his statement.”
Tan said Loga’s remark was related to an earlier accusation against Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
Tan accused Tnegku Adnan of corruption for selling 200 acres of land in Kuala Lumpur ever since he helmed the position in 2009. – November 22, 2017.
