THE Health Ministry’s advisory role in government is limited to the Covid-19 crisis and not on matters of policy, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

He said this in response to calls for clarification on whether the ministry had advised the government to convene parliament for only a day on May 18.

“I think it is beyond the Health Ministry’s role to advise on policy matters etc. We advise the prime minister with regards to Covid-19 transmission,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.

The ministry’s advice to the government during a health crisis is based on data and figures it has collected, he said. – April 27, 2020.
