THERE are 20 new Covid-19 cases in Selangor Mansion, which lies in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, bringing the total number of cases there to 166, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said 150 out of the 166 cases are foreigners.
Dr Noor Hisham added no new cases were reported at the nearby Menara City One condominium, where the total remains at 51 cases, in which 37 involved foreigners.
“As for Malayan Mansion, there are three new positive cases, bringing the total to seven. Six of them are foreigners,” he said at the ministry’s daily press conference in Putrajaya today.
Selangor Mansion and nearby Malayan Mansion in the Masjid India area were placed under enhanced MCO on April 7 after 15 Covid-19 cases were detected there.
About 5,000 people living in the 365 residential units are in lockdown.
At Menara City One, the enhanced MCO started on March 31 at the complex on Jalan Munshi Abdullah, involving 3,200 residents in 502 units.
As for the Selayang area, Noor Hisham said they could also be linked to the tabligh event at Sri Petaling mosque.
“We were also told the same thing at the Selayang wholesale market had happened, and that’s why we have extended the enhanced MCO around the area.
“It is not for all the foreigners (nationwide) but those exposed to the tabligh event. This is how we are focusing on our targeted approach into the locality, as well as the high-risks groups.”
Noor Hisham said 99 patients have recovered from Covid-19 and been discharged from hospitals, exceeding the 51 new cases reported.
He said there were two deaths reported over the past 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 98. – April 25, 2020.
