SELANGOR Mansion today reported 39 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative number of cases detected in the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) area to 146, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

The director-general of health attributed the spike to the 14-day incubation period of the virus.

He added that the screening process in the area, which started on April 7, is ongoing.

A total of 970 samples have been taken from Selangor Mansion, which has been under EMCO since April 7.

Meanwhile, Kg Sg Lui reported 15 more cases, while northern Kuala Lumpur and the area surrounding the Selayang wholesale market registered eight new infections.

Other EMCO areas did not report fresh cases.

In all, there are 618 cases in the 18 EMCO areas.

Another 121 coronavirus patients were discharged as of noon today, exceeding the 88 new cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said total recoveries now stand at 3,663, while the accumulated number of infections is 5,691, of which 13 are imported cases.

With one new fatality, the death toll stands at 96. – April 24, 2020.
