MOHD Khalil was elected as PAS Youth chief on his own merits by the wing’s members, said his father, who is also party president Abdul Hadi Awang.
“I did not ask my family members to contest but the grassroots nominated him.
“Whether or not he was elected unopposed that is up to the members,” said Hadi when asked if there were elements of nepotism in the party.
Khalil was elected unopposed in the PAS Youth polls. Before him, Nik Abduh, the son of PAS’s late revered spiritual leader, Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, was the wing’s chief.
Hadi, however, said it was the hope of every father that his son carry on his struggle.
“Every father wants their son to carry on their struggle. There is no father who does not want his son to follow his struggle. But positions in the party are up to the grassroots.” – May 1, 2017.
