THE distribution of allowances to more healthcare frontliners will depend on the Health Ministry’s budget, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The health director-general said the matter has been discussed by the ministry’s top management and is under the secretary-general’s purview.
“It depends on the budget that has been given to us by the Finance Ministry. That is not under my area. It is under our secretary-general. We hope our secretary-general will look into it,” he added.
Malaysiakini had earlier reported that not all medical frontliners are entitled to receive the special monthly allowance of between RM400 and RM600 announced under the Prihatin stimulus package.
According to the report, only frontliners whose tasks requires them to don full personal protective equipment (PPE) and those who work more than 14 consecutive days are eligible. – April 22, 2020.
