A NEW Covid-19 cluster has been detected in Sendayan, accounting for the spike in cases in Negri Sembilan, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“The Sendayan cluster has 39 cases, including 13 tahfiz students and a family of 11,” the director-general of health told a daily press conference on the coronavirus.
Negri Sembilan reported 362 infections as of noon today.
Dr Noor Hisham said the Sendayan cluster is small compared to the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster, which accounts for about 40% of Malaysia’s overall cases.
Currently, there are 28 clusters and sub-clusters in the country, he said, adding that Health Ministry officials are working hard to stop the virus’ spread.
Another 170 cases were registered as of noon, taking the national total to 4,987. Five new fatalities bring the death toll to 82.
Total recoveries stand at 2,478 after 202 patients were discharged. – April 14, 2020.
