More Covid-19 recoveries than new cases today, 1 more death reported

The government says 168 Covid-19 patients have been discharged in the past 24 hours, more than the new 134 cases of the virus detected today. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Hasnoor Hussain, April 13, 2020.

WITH 168 patients discharged, the number of Covid-19 recoveries today exceeded the number of new cases.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press conference today that 134 new cases have been reported as of 12pm today, bringing the national total to 4,817.

Of the 4,817 cases, 2,464 are active cases whereby the patients are placed under isolation and are still being treated.

Meanwhile, there was one death reported today, bringing the total number of fatalities to 77.

The deceased was a 62-year-old man who had come in close contact with another infected person.

The man, who was receiving treatment at Malacca Hospital, was pronounced dead at 9.15am this morning.

The man also had a history of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, high blood pressure and kidney disease. – April 13, 2020.
