THE police will increase patrol and personnel at land and sea borders to prevent undocumented migrants from entering the country illegally, said Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador.

According to Hamid, 2,500 officers are deployed to patrol the nation’s borders.

“We will increase enforcement by 100% to carry out our duty in the said areas in line with the Health Ministry’s comments on the dangers of a third wave from outsiders coming in.

“We suspect that it is easy for the virus to be transmitted by illegal immigrants that come in via tunnel routes.

“Their presence here without proper screening and check-up is a serious threat,” he told the media in a press conference at Bukit Aman.

In another development, Hamid said that six people from Bangladesh and Myanmar, including two women – who tried to enter the country illegally via Padang Besar – were arrested during the first phase of the movement control order.

He stated that the authorities will pay more attention to illegal routes with low levels of observation, and more personnel from the General Operations Force will be added. – April 6, 2020.

  • How many million if illegal foreigners workers we have? IGP should then know how "loose" is our border immigresen/custom and police guarding our borders. Facts don't lie but it's whether how u can take up the facts with intelligence and guts in front of a group of non-principled politician leaders full of self interest and agenda. Pls stay on as long as possible to ensure some level of rules of law for the country.
