A RM250 monthly cash aid under the Sarawakku Sayang initiative will be disbursed to some 430,000 residents from the B40 group starting April 15, said state Secretary Jaul Samion.
The six-month financial assistance, announced by Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg on March 23, is to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on low-income folk in the state.
In a statement today, Samion said recipients with bank accounts will have the money transferred on the 15th of each month till September.
For the more than 23,000 recipients without accounts, they can collect the cash from the nearest state Treasury office.
To make it easier for this group, said Samion, they will be split into two batches and given the full six-month amount in one go.
The first batch can collect the aid anytime between April 15 and 30, while the second can do so between August 15 and 30.
Samion said Sarawak will use the Inland Revenue Board’s Bantuan Sara Hidup list as of January to determine eligibility for the state’s cash aid, and so, there is no need for people to apply. – April 2, 2020.
