2,359 volunteers join battle against Covid-19

THE Health Ministry has welcomed 2,359 medical volunteers in the fight against Covid-19.

Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the group comprises mostly nurses (909) and medical officers (704).

“We are thankful for these volunteers from various medical fields who will help us control the pandemic.

“The ministry is also in talks to expedite approval for contractual appointments of medical staff,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Among the volunteers are 65 specialists from different fields.

Dr Noor Hisham said contract staff will be appointed for the next six months.

“We are looking for more volunteers to assist the ministry. Those interested can contact us.”

He said medical volunteers are needed at public health facilities, as well as Kuala Lumpur International Airport. – April 1, 2020.
