MOHAMED Azmin Ali’s political secretary, Muhammad Hilman Idham, is attending the Bersatu leadership meeting in Petaling Jaya tonight.

He declined to explain his attendance to reporters waiting at the party headquarters when he arrived at 9.40pm.

“Just here for the meeting,” he said before entering the lift.

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin is chairing the emergency meeting, which was called after Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s shock resignation as prime minister and party chairman.

Dr Mahathir’s announcement came an hour before Muhyiddin said Bersatu was pulling out of Pakatan Harapan following a weekend of speculation that a new government would be formed by the party, a PKR faction under Azmin, Barisan Nasional and PAS.

Azmin, who was PKR deputy president, was sacked from the party earlier today, along with vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin.

Bersatu’s departure has caused PH to crumble. But, pact components DAP and Amanah have declared their support for Dr Mahathir as prime minister.

PH ally Parti Warisan Sabah has expressed the same.
