THERE will be more relief aid for flash flood victims in Penang. The state government will also launch a website to convey information to the people.
Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim said the site, penangbangkit.com, would be launched tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Facebook page is accessible.
He said the purpose of the Penang Bangkit (Penang bounce back) programme was to resettle victims who were evacuated from their homes and to help life in Penang return to normal.
He said the portal would inform the people of announcements on post-flood disaster programmes.
“The public can get information on government aid.
“They will also get information on promotions and offers by the private sector, like how Uber and Grab are giving discounts to help people with transport issues,” he said.
The flash floods that hit Penang earlier this week was the worst for many years, causing over 12,500 people to be evacuated.
The heavy rain and strong winds on Saturday and early Sunday caused flash floods, landslides and trees to be uprooted.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng announced a RM100 million allocation for flood disaster relief under the Penang Bangkit programme. – November 9, 2017.
