THIRTY-FOUR people are believed to have been called by police for participating in at least eight gatherings involving Parti Warisan Sabah in Kota Kinabalu last month.

Warisan vice-president Junz Wong said he saw the names of 34 individuals on police’s list, comprising 30 party members and four from Pakatan Harapan.

“I was told that I have been reported eight times in relation to the gatherings.

“Some had six or seven reports lodged against them.

“It cannot be ascertained why PH members were also called by police, but I believe someone had also made reports against them.”

Among those called from Warisan were vice-president Peter Anthony, Youth chief Azis Jamman, deputy Youth chief Nicholas Chak and Wanita Youth chief Munirah Majilis, as well as the party’s Sepanggar coordinator, Norazmi Alimat.

Most of the gatherings were held near the Kota Kinabalu court complex during the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s remand applications for three Warisan members.

There were also gatherings in a city park and at the federal administrative complex, as well as candlelight vigils.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, when contacted, declined to comment on the matter. – November 7, 2017.
