HUNDREDS of supporters of jailed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim marched from Parliament to Dataran Merdeka on the 1,000th day of his imprisonment in Sungai Buloh prison.
The 2.5km march was led by Anwar’s wife and Pakatan Harapan president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and included DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, Amanah information chief Khalid Samad and opposition party members and supporters.
On the march, they shouted slogans such as “Bebas Anwar (Free Anwar)” and “Reformasi”.
Police monitored the march that took place without incident until 10.30pm.
Opposition leaders then gave speeches on the roadside at Dataran Merdeka as the field area was closed for upgrading works.

Those gathered then lit 1,000 candles as a symbolic expression of the 1,000 days Anwar has spent in jail.
PKR vice-president Tian Chua acted as an MC for the evening, standing on the back of a pick-up truck to address the crowd.
Wan Azizah in a speech urged Pakatan supporters to focus on defeating Barisan Nasional and not to forget the sacrifices her husband had made in the years-long effort.
“He (Anwar) never complains (even though the imprisonment) has been a challenge,” she said.
