M. INDIRA Gandhi will file a RM100 million civil suit against Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Abdul Hamid Bador and three others at the Kuala Lumpur High Court next week, for failing to locate her daughter.
The former kindergarten teacher’s 11-year-old daughter was snatched by her Muslim convert ex-husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah 11 years ago.
“The suit will be filed next week at the Kuala Lumpur High Court against four individuals… one of them is the IGP,” Indra Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) chairman Arun Doraisamy said in a press conference today.
The other three parties are the Royal Malaysian Police, the special task force formed to find daughter Prasana Diksa headed by Bukit Aman CID director Huzir Mohamed and the Malaysian government.
Police formed a task force to find Riduan and Prasana last April but no developments have been reported since then.
Indira’s lawyer, Rajesh Nagarajan, had said the suit stems from the fact that there is a court order for the IGP to find Prasana, who would be 12 this year.
“The IGP has failed, refused or neglected to return the child. Therefore, he has failed to give effect to the court order.
“Therefore, we are filing a suit against the IGP for damages based on the grounds that he didn’t perform his duties.”
Another lawyer on the team, Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal, said it has been more than a decade since Indira has been deprived of her child. – February 1, 2020.
