THE Health Ministry is awaiting the test results of a Malaysian among 11 people suspected of contracting the Novel Coronavirus, said health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

According to Noor Hisham, the 11 suspected cases were received by the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) with all 11 believed to have travelled to China recently.

However, 10 of the 11 tests returned negative for the virus.

“The lab test results of one Malaysian are expected to be released soon,” he said in a statement, adding eight were Malaysians, two were from China and one was from Jordan.

The ministry also advises people travelling to China to postpone their trip if at all possible.

He noted that the World Health Organization has not issued a travel or trade ban on China.

Noor Hisham said the ministry will continue to provide updates on the virus from time to time.

Earlier today, Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced three cases had been confirmed in Malaysia. – January 25, 2020.
