FAIRUS Latip, a 37-year-old Lundu man reported missing yesterday when he failed to return home from a crab catching trip, was found dead this morning at 7am.

Fairus, of Kg Sempadi, is believed to have been a victim of a crocodile attack because a significant proportion of the left side of his body was missing when he was found by villagers about half an hour upriver from where he had gone to set his crab traps.

The Fire and Rescue Department mounted a search for Fairus just before midnight last night after worried family members called them for assistance when they could not reach him on his phone.

He reportedly left home at 11.30am yesterday morning dressed only in a national service T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.

The search and rescue team recovered his crab traps by the riverbank but failed to find him. – January 25, 2020.
