PAKATAN Harapan (PH) must heed Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s call for change or risk being a one-term government, said PKR vice-president Zuarida Kamaruddin.
Zuraida, who is also housing and local government minister, said it is now up to certain parties to change.
“So they must be careful and they should change (their ways),” she told reporters officiating her ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya today.
Dr Mahathir yesterday said PH might just be a one-term government unless it changes for the better and stops infighting.
“The string of by-election losses is a sign the government needs to buck up and deliver to the people who voted PH into power in 2018.
“It could be a one-term government unless it changes itself for the better,” Dr Mahathir said.
Zuraida also said if PH continues to ignore such warnings the government will not last long.
Dr Mahathir had said some party members in the coalition are keener about fighting for posts rather than working for the people.
PH ally Warisan lost its bid for the Kimanis federal seat on Saturday, marking the fifth defeat for the ruling coalition and its allies in 10 by-elections since the May 2018 general election that swept them to power, deposing the long-ruling Barisan Nasional.
Civil societies and activists said PH needs to fulfil its manifesto pledges and revive the ailing economy left behind by BN, whose last prime minister Najib Razak is facing a slew of corruption charges. – January 21, 2020.
