THE PKR representatives on the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council have to back the party’s position that Anwar Ibrahim is the prime ministerial candidate, said Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The party secretary-general told reporters after the PKR central leadership committee (MPP) meeting that the six representatives have to toe the party line and keep their views on the handover of power to themselves.

“The PKR central leadership committee has reaffirmed the decision of the political bureau and party congress about Anwar as PKR’s candidate for the prime minister’s post.

“He is also PH’s choice, as decided through a consensus on January 6, 2018,” he said.

“The committee has decided that all PH representatives have to be publicly unanimous in this decision,” he said.

“They cannot voice their own views because they are bound by the party’s decision,” he added.

The six PKR representatives are Anwar, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Mohamed Azmin Ali, Chua Tian Chang, Dr Xavier Jayakumar and Saifuddin.

“It is already well known to the media to which leaders I refer,” he said about council members with a dissenting opinion.

He said the matter was discussed at length during the meeting, in view of talks surrounding the handover.

According to the PH hierarchy, it was agreed that Dr Mahathir Mohamad would hand over the office of prime minister to Anwar, but the exact timeline for this transition has not been made public. – January 18, 2020.

  • Yalah, no power no quarrel, once in power, greed and selfishness prevail. What's PKR without Anwar? Azmin proved himself as one can easily be used as a political tool to others. Zuraida is not trustworthy either. I beg my money on Anwar for politic and economic breakthrough for Malaysia.
