PAKATAN Harapan deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin today advised certain leaders in the ruling coalition to end their disputes for the sake of the country.

Without naming anyone, Muhyiddin said the focus of the ruling coalition should be its performance and not infighting.

“I don’t want to mention any leaders. It’s better to stop the feud immediately and find a solution and the best way to work together.

“We need unity to help us perform better for the people,” he said after launching the NGO Anak Muda flood relief programme to east coast in Putrajaya today.

Muhyiddin was asked to comment on the rift between PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali.

On Sunday, Anwar said he had no intention of sacking Azmin despite calls from delegates during the party’s congress over the weekend.

Anwar said none of the party leaders have agreed or responded to the matter, while he is open to discussions with Azmin.

Muhiyiddin said people are focusing on what the PH government is doing for them.

“They want to see what work that we are doing and not infighting.

“This (state of affairs) might get them worried because we are the government they are relying on.

“They want to know how we can improve the economy, address cost of living, provide welfare and jobs.”

He said PH had started a lot programmes but they is still not up to expectations.

On Sunday, Azmin has dismissed suggestions of forming a new party, reiterating that he will stay in PKR and find ways to resolve differences he has with the leadership.

He said he was prepared to settle any misunderstanding with Anwar if he was called by the party president.

Azmin has been chided for failing to attend any central leadership council (MPP) and political bureau meetings since the party elections last year, sparking talk of frosty ties Anwar.

Last month, the deputy PKR president held a meeting with several opposition MPs at his residence, believed to be for discussions to keep Dr Mahathir Mohamad in power and deny Anwar the prime ministership. – December 11, 2019.
