ONLY those with a guilty conscience will talk about being sacked from PKR, said secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail today.

He said the party has no plans to sack anyone.

“Only those who are guilty will talk about being sacked. Those who know that they have breached party discipline.

“Talk such as they are ready to be fired will only come from such people,” he told reporters at the sidelines of a World Bank event in Kuala Lumpur today.

“This is an admission of guilt to me.”

He was responding to PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin’s speech at the Shared Prosperity Vision dinner yesterday that she and deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali were ready to be sacked for the party.

In an apparent swipe against PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, Zuraida had said she and Azmin were ready to be sacrificed for the party’s good.

“Never mind, Azmin and I are prepared to be sacked,” she said in an emotionally charged speech yesterday that drew cheers from the crowd.

He said party issues should be discussed at its meetings.

Saifuddin added he does not want to get involved in personal attacks while referring to Zuraida’s jibe against him.

“I don’t want to get involved in personal attacks. For me, I will repeat my stance that Zuraida is the party’s vice-president chosen by members.

“To ensure the party returns to the right track, attend party meetings.”

Meanwhile, Saifuddin said PKR congress delegates are of the view that action should be taken against those who failed to abide by party rules, including skipping meetings.

However, Anwar’s stance is more reconciliatory whereby he is open to talks to resolve problems, he said.

Saifuddin also distanced himself from Zuraida’s claims that Anwar had tried to convince her Azmin was the man in the alleged sex video scandal with former PKR member Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz.

“We don’t go into it. We leave it to the police,” he said. – December 9, 2019.
