DR Mahathir Mohamad today agreed with Anwar Ibrahim that anyone who wants to be the next prime minister must use the right channel.
“We agree that it must be through the right way,” he said, responding to Anwar who said yesterday that those interested in the top post must go through the usual channels rather than holding secret meetings.
The PKR president said he won’t stop anyone from becoming the next prime minister but he or she must follow the usual channels.
On Monday night, PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali hosted 22 Barisan Nasional and several PKR lawmakers at his home, purportedly to discuss ways to ensure Dr Mahathir remains in office.
The economic affairs minister, however, said it was just an “ordinary meeting”.
Azmin, who has fallen out with Anwar over the past year, has openly declared his support for Dr Mahathir to remain in office until the end of his term despite an agreement in Pakatan Harapan for the nonagenarian to make way for the PKR president. – November 21, 2019.
