THE carcass of another Borneo pygmy elephant was discovered in Sukau, Kinabatangan, today.
Sabah Wildlife Department director Augustine Tuuga confirmed the incident but was not in a position to provide further details.
“We have to wait for the report our officers on their way to the location to investigate,” he said, adding that the department would follow up by filing a police report at Kinabatangan police headquarters.
This is the second pygmy elephant carcass found in Kinabatangan this month, after another was found floating in Sungai Kinabatangan on November 3.
On September 25, a pygmy elephant carcass was found riddled with bullets in Sungai Dumpas, Kalabakan, Tawau, while another carcass was discovered at an oil palm plantation in Beluran on October 19. – Bernama, November 16, 2019.
