UMNO Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dasuki has urged Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to dissolve Parliament so the people can determine who should lead the country.
Asyraf said fresh polls should determine who has the mandate to rule, given Dr Mahathir’s reluctance to hand over the reins to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
“We know he is in a dilemma, in fear of handing it over to Anwar. Dr Mahathir will never give up his post.
“We respect Dr Mahathir deeply and we want him to do the correct thing for the first time in his life.
“He should unite all Malaysians by dissolving Parliament. Let the people decide on their prime minister,” he said during the Tg Piai by-election ceramah in Pekan Nenas, Johor last night.
Asyraf added that Dr Mahathir’s party Bersatu was the smallest in the Pakatan Harapan pact, with only 13 parliamentary seats.
He said it was a different scenario for Dr Mahathir as he had full control of a very strong Barisan Nasional in his first tenure as prime minister.

“Now, he has to go through layers of discussions before making decisions. He has to convince the Pakatan (Harapan) presidential council, and cabinet.
“Then, he has to get approvals from Lim Guan Eng, Dr Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail) and Mohamad Sabu.”
Previously, Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah told The Malaysian Insight that Dr Mahathir would not hand over power to Anwar as agreed by Pakatan Harapan leaders.
Before that PKR founder Syed Husin Ali had slammed Dr Mahathir for continuing to hold on to the top position. – November 13, 2019.

Pakatans, that is. For if only they had governed well in the past 18 months, worked towards fulfilling their manifesto instead of offering excuses like a turkey that buried its head in the sand, then political clowns like Asyraf would be mere entertainers within the UMNO-PAS- BN circus; everyone would enjoy the good laugh whenever he does his standup comedy routine.
Instead, chaps like Asyraf are made to look relevant simply because PH continues to fail.
