THE body of a ninth victim in the Penang landslide has been found at 6.20pm, leaving only two more victims still missing.

Edwin Galan Teruki, the Fire and Rescue Department’s operations deputy head, said the extraction of the victim’s body is underway.

“It is tricky as the body is under a boulder and steel beam.

“We also must take care when we remove the body to preserve the condition of the remains. It may take an hour,” he told reporters.

The landslide yesterday at a construction site on Lorong Lembah Permai 3 buried 11 people, including a Malaysian site supervisor, alive.

Four bodies were found yesterday and five more were found today. All were foreign workers.

The eighth victim found this afternoon was Pakistani Raza Ali.

His Indonesian wife Noraini Rosanti Abdullah gave his name as Ali Raza Mohamad Jamil when speaking to the media yesterday.

She looked dazed when she came out of the construction site.

Edwin said the search operations had been a success and they hope to find the remaining two victims within the night.

He said they would continue as far as the situation permitted. – October 22, 2017.
