Pakatan to discuss Perak MB’s DAP remarks, says Syed Saddiq

THE Pakatan Harapan presidential council will discuss remarks allegedly made by Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu over his “lone battle” with DAP, said Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.

This comes after Faizal, from Bersatu, was criticised by DAP and PKR leaders over a leaked video clip of him complaining of his “lone battle” against DAP in the state.

Syed Saddiq, who is also Bersatu youth chief, also said it’s not an anti-Islam party as was portrayed in the video.

DAP agreed to higher allocations for institutions to help the Malays, he said.

“Why did they agree (if DAP is anti-Islam)? All these suggestions were accepted by DAP.

“This shows that we are all working together as a family. They are not anti-Islam or Melayu,” he said after attending an event today.

In the two-minute-47-sec video clip, which was uploaded on Kepala Batas Umno member Azizi Safar’s Facebook page, Faizal was seen discussing with a group of people on how he had to face DAP on several issues, including the Malay land issue.

“I am fighting alone with the DAP factions.

“I want to defend Malay land and fight for our religion. I am doing this slowly,” he said in the video.

Faizal said he was thankful that some “friends in Umno” did not reprimand him in his efforts.

“They are on good terms with me,” he said.

Faizal has since defended his remarks, saying his words were taken out of context.

Perak DAP secretary Wong Kah Who said Faizal’s remarks were unacceptable and embarrassing.

Wong urged Faizal to apologise for portraying DAP as an enemy of Islam and the Malay community.

“What he says in the recording is highly regrettable and embarrassing. It also contradicts the spirit of Pakatan Harapan,” Wong said. 

Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak also said Faizal shows he is unfit to be a menteri besar.

The Perak MB will likely have to face his party leadership over the video, after Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday that he would be asked to give an explanation.

Muhyiddin added that Faizal could have been expressing his personal experience in the Perak government, where he is the sole Bersatu assemblyman. – November 9, 2019.

  • If BERSATU really feels the heat of DAP, this STUPID looking MB should be replaced one from DAP, Malayadun or from Amanah, the best former MB Nijar to please the voters who have voted to get this New Government. Nothing less than that can satisfy the voters.
