OPPOSITION parties are deploying muddled racist rhetoric in their campaign for the Tg Piai parliamentary seat, said Pakatan Harapan senior leader Mohamad Sabu, who criticised such tactics as divisive.

These attacks include accusations by PAS, Umno and MCA, which are hypocritical and illogical, directed at PH parties, such as Bersatu and DAP, said Mohamad, who is also defence minister.

PAS has contradicted itself repeatedly throughout all the three by-elections this year, starting with
Cameron Highlands in January.

In the race for the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat, PAS told Malay voters not to choose a non-Muslim candidate over a Muslim candidate so as to increase the voice of Muslims in Parliament.

“Now they’ve come to Tg Piai, they are saying vote for the non-Muslim. What kind of party is this? The party has no consistent stand,” Mohamad said at a ceramah in Pekan Nenas last night.

In Cameron Highlands, PAS supported the BN candidate, Ramli Mohd Nor, against PH’s M. Manogaran.

In Tg Piai, PAS has endorsed BN’s Wee Jeck Seng over PH’s Karmaine Sardini, an imam and religious school board member.

PAS has abandoned its ally, Berjasa, in the Gagasan Sejahtera pact just so that it can help BN, he said. Berjasa is fielding its own candidate, Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz.

“(Because) PAS wants to follow ‘bossku’. This is party that has no principles,” said Mohamad, referring to the nickname given to former prime minister Najib Razak, who is facing multiple charges of corruption.

PAS is helping its ally Umno, the Malay nationalist party of the BN coalition, campaign for Wee Jeck Seng from MCA.

PAS hopes to get the 2,962 voters it received in GE14 in Tg Piai for Wee.

Umno and MCA, on the other hand, would tell different messages to the Malays and Chinese, said Mohamad, who is from PH party Amanah.

Umno is trying to scare the Malays into thinking that the Chinese-majority DAP calls the shots in PH.

To Chinese voters, MCA accuses Bersatu and Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad of controlling the DAP.

“In Pakatan, we don’t subscribe to such racist views. And I hope voters in Pekan Nenas do not get taken in by such rhetoric as well and choose our candidate.” – November 5, 2019.

  • Haha...The presence of UMNO warlords and PAS bigots in the campaign is akin to poison added to Mr. Wong's cup of tea.

  • Ah yes... Mat sabu ... man, where have u been in Malaysia Baru for the past 18 months? When MCD called some Malaysians as Orang asing? Say, any input on the use of Sosma?
You get the idea, as I could ramble on.

But its certainly interesting that your loudest voice, post GE 14, appears to be reserved only during by-election time.
