LIM Guan Eng has declined to comment on his foreword in a pro-China comic book, saying it could be construed as interference.

The DAP secretary-general, however, did not deny writing the preface for the controversial comic, titled “Belt and Road Initiative for Win-Winism” and authored by former party member Hew Kuan Yau.

“The investigation into the writer is ongoing, so until that is done, I don’t want to say anything.

“We don’t want to be seen as abusing our power, so let the law do its work first,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

The 164-page comic was banned by the Home Ministry last week, following a public outcry over its alleged promotion of communism.

It first drew criticism after news reports that 2,500 copies in Bahasa Malaysia had been distributed to schools, leading to the Education Ministry recalling the comic and imposing a ban on it.

Former prime minister Najib Razak is among those who have spoken out against the comic, taking to Facebook to complain that it is propaganda that promotes DAP and runs Barisan Nasional down. – October 30, 2019.
