BERSATU president Muhyiddin Yassin said he was not aware of Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein’s campaign to form a new government without DAP and Amanah.
“I don’t know (about the joint pact). We have a deal that we signed together before the reunification and the formation of Pakatan Harapan (PH),” he said.
“We promise to work together as a coalition of political parties to face the elections and win people’s hearts to form a government.
“So far, the existence of PH is still relevant. I do not know of any other efforts, as Bersatu president and PH deputy president, I do not know,” he said in Pontian today.
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had previously said former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin was trying to form a government without the involvement of the DAP and Amanah.
On Tuesday, he called for opposition MPs to disregard the so-called “nonsense strategy”.
PH secretaries-general in a statement on October 16 affirmed that they would adhere to coalition.
Following this, they urged Hishammuddin to stop his campaign of trying to unseat DAP and Amanah.
However, Hishammuddin denied there were any such plans for a joint government.
The issue gained attention after PH leaders appeared with Umno and PAS leaders at the Malay Dignity Congress earlier this month.
Earlier today, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he did not believe Hishammuddin was working in a plot to replace the present government with a new pact.
Zahid said he was confident the Sembrong MP would not go down this road. – October 19, 2019.
