PUTRAJAYA has agreed that the Parliamentary Select Committee for Major Public Appointments will vet key appointments to four agencies.
Law Minister Liew Vui Keong said in a parliamentary written reply today that the decision was made in a cabinet meeting on July 31.
Th posts are the chairman and commissioners of the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam); the chairmen and members of the Election Commission and the Judicial Appointment Commission, and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief.
“Apart from that, the government has also agreed to allow the prime minister to refer appointments for any other key positions to the Parliamentary Select Committee for Major Public Appointments,” he said.
