HINDU lobby group has demanded that the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) review its decision not to charge a Zakir Naik follower for insulting religious remarks.

Agamam Ani, an association of Hindu groups, said the AGC’s decision not to press charges against preacher Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu had upset the Hindu community.

Association adviser Arun Dorasamy today urged the AGC to analyse the video of Zamri’s speech again.

“Zamri has clearly insulted Hinduism. We feel that AGC failed to properly analyse the details of the video content,” he said during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

Arun said the AGC should have consulted Hindu scholars or bodies such as Hindu Sangam.

“Why didn’t the AGC consult Hindu Sangam or Hindu scholars to get their explanation on this sensitive matter?

“The perception of Muslim officials about Hindu religious elements may be quite different.”

Zamri had given a lecture at a mosque in Kelantan last December, where he allegedly belittled Hinduism. Zamri is a Muslim convert.

Agamam Ani had submitted its first memorandum to the AGC in July, demanding he be charged.

Last week, the organisation submitted another memo to the AGC.

The organisation also received a letter from the AGC dated July 5, stating its decision not to press charges against Zamri. https://www.themalaysianinsight.com/s/181300

Arun said Zamri was liable to be charged under Section 504 of the Penal Code, on intentional insult and provocation that could break the public peace.

“Didn’t Zamri do this? If the full 14 minutes and 58 seconds video was seen by the AGC, then they would know. Not sure which video they analysed.”

He added that preachers should stop making comparisons between different faiths.

“Your religion is pure for you, my religion is pure for me. So, stop making arguments or comparisons.”

He said Agamam Ani’s next move would be to send a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, in addition to challenging the AGC’s decision. – September 9, 2019.

  • Send the video personally to Thomas for him to view then decide if there was any element of case to charge this converted religious bigot.
