Police to call more witnesses in commando’s death

THE police are expected to interview more people as they continue enquiries into the death of a commando officer who died in a shooting demonstration in Lok Kawi Camp, Sabah, on Wednesday.

Sabah police commissioner Omar Mammah, when contacted, said the police had taken a statement from the victim’s colleague, aged 37, who was arrested after the incident, and released on police bail the same day.

“Investigation into the incident is ongoing and the police will be calling a few more people for questioning soon,” Omar added.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said the police were conducting a thorough investigation, including identifying the actual cause of the incident.

Maj Mohd Zahir Armaya, 36, of the 11th Regiment special unit, based at Sungai Udang Camp, Malacca, died during a demonstration in conjunction with the launch of the 5th Infantry Division and the 13th Infantry Brigade in Lok Kawi. – Bernama, September 6, 2019.
