THE PKR disciplinary board has accepted the the explanations of the party’s Perak chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak and Selangor chief Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, which were provided in response to the warning letters they were issued over their public statements on sex videos linked to party members.
“I have received the clarification from both of them and they have explained themselves,” board chairman Ahmad Kassim told a press conference today at PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
“After discussion with the party’s political bureau, we have decided to accept their explanation.”
No further action will be taken on the matter, he added.
Party vice-presidents Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Chang Lih Kang and communications chief Fahmi Fadzil were present.
Farhash, who is political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, was in police remand for eight days last month in connection with a series of videos depicting two men in bed together.
Former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz, who had confessed that it was him and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali in the clips, was also in police custody for eight days.
Farhash had earned the censure of several party leaders for his “Azmin semburit” statement, which he made upon his release from police custody at the Dang Wangi police station last month.
“Semburit” is a Malay word meaning gay sex.
Amirudin, who is the Selangor menteri besar, had recently said that the person who leaked the sex videos was “someone who had been through a similar ordeal and fought through a dark period of history.”
Azmin has maintained that the videos are fake. – August 21, 2019.
