FLASH floods in Subang have left cars submerged in water after torrential rain poured down in the Klang Valley this evening.

Videos of the flash floods, which have since gone viral on social media, showed two cars submerged and dragged away by the currents.

Information in the video stated that the incident took place along Persiaran Kewajipan near the Subang Jaya police headquarters.

Another viral video on the Subang Jaya Echo Facebook page was captioned: “Flash floods this late afternoon have flooded major roads in Subang Jaya and USJ. Many vehicles have stalled in rising flood waters.”

The video showed more footage of heavy rain and floods in Subang Jaya, including a clip of men in uniform trying to push submerged vehicles to less water-logged areas.

Facebook user Gary SK Fong also posted a video of himself braving the floods in front of the Giant Hypermarket in USJ in his car.

A Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said it had not received any distress calls in the area as the floodwaters receded quickly.

The spokesman added that the department had been monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, a Subang Jaya police spokesman said flooding had occurred in front of the Kewajipan roundabout and Subang Jaya police headquarters.

“The situation returned to normal after an hour, and water levels in the area are also receding.”

The spokesman said only two cars had been damaged in the floods. – August 15, 2019.
