Jamal remanded for 3 days over beer protest

RED Shirts movement leader Jamal Md Yunos will be remanded for three days from today, his lawyer Mohamad Imran Tamrin said after proceedings at the Shah Alam court today.

Jamal will be remanded until Sunday for investigations under Section 143 of the Penal Code for attending an illegal gathering, over a protest he staged outside the Selangor state secretariat building yesterday.

Also under remand for the same period are seven others who were at the protest, Imran said.

The Sungai Besar Umno division leader had smashed crates of beer bottles with a sledgehammer to protest the Selangor government’s stand on allowing beer festivals as long as organisers adhered to conditions set by local councils.

Imran had earlier said that he would argue that the protest was not an illegal gathering. The seven men who were remanded were not participants at the protest but were Jamal’s driver and personal bodyguards, the lawyer added.

Jamal, known for his bizarre stunts against the opposition, said beer festivals were immoral and would corrupt youths. – October 6, 2017.

  • If our moronic idiot has been remanded many times and now with tainted records in the eyes of law, even there are no charges on him yet to be convicted, CAN he still hold the position as one of the Umno Division Head. It is a mockery and stretching the ketuanan concept to a contempt by the nation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
