THE Shah Alam coroners’ court today ended its five-month inquest into fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s death.

Coroner Rofiah Mohamad said the inquest will not call up any more witnesses, and will look at all the testimonies before making a verdict.

“We have closed the inquest, and interested parties are invited to give their written submissions before August 21.

“After that, we will look at a verdict,” she said in court today.

Rofiah said there is enough evidence to deliver a verdict, but did not set a date for that.

Conducting officer Faten Hadni Khairuddin said they will not be presenting their submissions.

“Lawyers for Adib’s family said they will be submitting their submissions.

“The Housing and Local Government Ministry, and the Fire and Rescue Department will deliberate before sending their submissions.”

Faten added that the submissions will be able to assist the court in its decision, but they are not compulsory.

The inquest began on February 11. To date, 30 witnesses have testified.

Adib, a member of the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Department’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services, sustained injuries during riots at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple on November 27 last year.

He died at the National Heart Institute on December 17. – July 24, 2019.

  • Were the external "experts" brought in by the Ministry, or the pathologists of HKL, giving scientific evidence? Could the vertical straight line fractures of the 7 rear left ribs be the result of assault or the result of a strong, sudden impact of a thin, hard, upright object as said by the experts from the HKL?
