PKR’S state chapter leaders today urged the central leadership to focus their energies on the government’s unfulfilled election promises instead of throwing mud at one another.
They said they were not interested in the ongoing spat between the party’s top guns over the sex video scandal and demanded that the leaders get their priorities right.
In a press conference attended by six state leaders, Kedah PKR chief Johari Abdul said the state chiefs’ role is to push the central leadership, especially the ministers and deputies, to fulfil their election promises.
“We are not interested in that (the sex video), we are interested in developing our states.”
The five other state leaders present were Perlis chief Amran Kamaruddin, Halim Bachik (Malacca), Azan Ismail (Terengganu), Zahir Hassan (Federal Territory) and Supardi Md Noor (Kelantan).
The six are part of the State Leaders Council which was formed and held its first meeting today. Eight other state leaders were absent.
Perak chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal, currently in remand for suspected involvement in the circulation of sex videos allegedly depicting party No. 2 Mohamed Azmin Ali, was among the absentees.
Johari said the newly formed council wanted PKR cabinet members to help the party’s state leaders to fulfil Pakatan Harapan’s election promises.
“We are asking the seven ministers and seven deputy ministers, what are you doing to help us? That is our cry now.”
Johari said the party’s central leadership based in Kuala Lumpur was unaware of the issues at grassroots level in the individual state chapters.
The State Leaders’ Council would thus play the role of reminding the party president and leaders who are members of the cabinet to ensure that they work to benefit the people. – July 19, 2019.
