THE police force today denied facing any pressure or being ordered by any party in relation to an ongoing investigation into the sex clips implicating a minister.
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said police are probing into the matter without any interference.
“I have clarified, there is no involvement from anyone. I am not being pressured, too.
“We are firm in our investigation under our standard operating procedures,” he said after making an official visit to the Royal Malaysian Army (ATM) base in Wisma Pertahanan, Kuala Lumpur.
Asked on the authenticity of the sex clips, Hamid said he will issue an official statement soon.
He also denied that Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak – one of nine men arrested and remanded in connection with the production and distribution of the clips – was denied food for almost 24 hours during his detention.
Perak PKR today alleged that Farhash was denied food, accusing the police of torture and brutality.
“The allegation is untrue,” Hamid said.
Last month, a series of clips showing two men engaging in sexual acts were released on WhatsApp.
Former Santubong PKR youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz then admitted to being one of the men in the videos and said Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali was the other.
Azmin, the PKR deputy president, has denied the claims, calling the affair a plot to ruin his career. PKR has since sacked Haziq.
Apart from Farhash, the police have also arrested Haziq.
This is the second time Haziq has been arrested in connection with the case. He was picked up and held overnight by police last month. – July 18, 2019.
