Nasharudin denies receiving SRC International funds

FORMER PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa is taking legal action against PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli following allegations that he was one of the recipients of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.

The chief executive officer of the Global Movement of Moderates (GMM) said not only were the claims baseless and irrelevant, it was also defamatory to him and PAS.

“I strongly deny his baseless allegations of me having received any form of payments and/or funding from the sources as described by him in his statutory declaration.

“I am not only willing to cooperate with any investigations into this matter, but I am also initiating legal action against him,” Nasharudin said in a statement.

Rafizi in a statutory declaration said that Nasharudin had received a sum of money from Prime Minister Najib Razak’s personal account through an intermediary.

The money, which was channelled into Najib’s personal accounts from SRC International Sdn Bhd, was transferred into a lawyer’s account who then distributed it to certain leaders including Nasharudin, he said.

Rafizi said he was informed about the movement of the money by a former senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer in January.

He said the retired officer was leading the investigation into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue and Najib’s alleged involvement.

“I cannot reveal the amount out of respect to my friend, it is classified as OSA (Official Secrets Act), I know the amount but I won’t say it, what’s more important is that MACC already knew the amount,” he said yesterday.

“MACC had questioned the lawyer and found proof that leaders were paid using SRC International funds, channelled through the lawyer.

“One of the recipients who received payment from the lawyer is former PAS deputy president, Nasharuddin Mat Isa,” Rafizi said.

Rafizi also lodged a report with MACC today, urging the anti-graft agency to re-investigate SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former 1MDB subsidiary. – April 14, 2017.
