Perak exco under investigation for rape

A PERAK executive councillor is under investigation for allegedly raping an Indonesian maid, police said.

Bukit Aman sexual crimes assistant director Choo Lily confirmed a report was lodged yesterday.

She declined to reveal if the exco member was called in for questioning.

The accused, who is said to be a second-term assemblyman, maintained he was innocent in a Sin Chew Daily report today.

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming said in a statement today the party would leave it to the police to investigate the “serious” charges.

“This is a very serious allegation and the party views the matter with grave concern,” said Nga, who is also deputy secretary-general of DAP.

“No one is above the law and as such the party will leave it to the authorities to conduct a full investigation. Appropriate action will be taken depending on the outcome of the investigation.” – July 9, 2019.
