ECONOMIC Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali denied that he was booed and heckled at a Felda Settlers’ Day event in Felda Selancar 3, Rompin, Pahang yesterday.
He said the heckling heard during his speech was not directed at him but was the result of a small incident during the event.
“None at all (booing). I was there. I gave a long speech, and I know there was disturbance at the back of the hall…not directed at me.
“The chaos was at the back but I have no knowledge what is it about,” he said at Parliament lobby today.
He was responding to a viral video clip on social media showing participants at the event booing Azmin during his speech.
Azmin said the government had the support of all Felda settlers, and pointed to the success of the event yesterday as evidence.
“The event was a huge success. It was the biggest Felda event. So many people came… many came from Sabah, Perlis and elsewhere to celebrate the announcement by the prime minister and initiatives taken by the government.
“This shows the full support of the Felda settlers for the government’s new model for Felda,” he said. – July 8, 2019.
