PAKATAN Harapan is the only hope for the Malays because the policies of PAS and Umno are obsolete, said Minister of Religious Affairs, Mujahid Yusof Rawa today.
“Even if PAS and Umno have joined forces, they won’t be able to provide a strong policy,” he said, after Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s unity calls for Malays, including Umno and PAS party members, to join Bersatu.
“They can join Amanah or PKR as well,” he said on the sidelines of the Street Raya event in Kuala Lumpur today.
Mujahid said the issue was about policy, not swelling party numbers.
He said the policies of Malay-centric parties in PH were progressive and dynamic, while the opposition’s ideas were obsolete and archaic.
The opposition was riddled with corruption scandals, hence it may not be able to come up with strong policies, he said.
“The Malays don’t have any other choices besides Bersatu, PKR or Amanah, but it is up to them.
“We have parties that are focused on development of all Malaysians, and the Malays will be core of this,” he said.
Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir said yesterday that he had witnessed the formation of more and more Malay parties, which reduced diluted the Malay vote on polling day.
“Yes, join Bersatu. When our group is big, we become strong, but don’t stop others from joining the party (Bersatu), let them join.” – July 6, 2019.
