THE police arrested a man and seized more than 100 fake guns from a house in Perlis earlier this week, sources said.

They told The Malaysian Insight that the fake guns were smuggled from across the Kedah and Kelantan border.

The police found the cache of fake weapons following investigations into the 29-year-old man and after a raid at a house in Felcra Lubuk Sireh in Kaki Bukit Perlis Thursday.

“As a result of the raid, the police arrested the man and recovered various fake guns, including pistols, rifles, fake accessories as well as blanks and rubber bullets.

“The suspect has been operating this business of buying and selling fake guns since 2016. Previously, he used to take delivery of fake items on his own in Hatyai and Bangkok in Thailand to be sold here.

“However, he stopped doing that after he was arrested by the Customs Department in 2017,” said a source.

Since then, the suspect has relied on runners to deliver him the goods, and used the Felcra Lubuk Sireh house as a transit point for the products.

From there, he would deliver the fakes to suppliers across Malaysia, said a source.

“The suspect also receives fake guns through courier services from within the country.”

The source said the suspect made between RM100 and RM250 in commission per fake gun sold to syndicates.

Among the fake guns seized were models of the Army R18 BK X3, C.55 Airsoft Gun, We Samurai Edge Ver2 F, Walther CZ P09 and others, valued at about RM85,000.

The case is being investigated under the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 and the Police Act 1967. – July 6, 2019.
