UMNO will not get involved in the fight between Pakatan Harapan factions following a sex video scandal allegedly involving two PKR members, Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said today

The Umno Youth chief said the party will not try to benefit from a clash between Dr Mahathir Mohamad or Anwar Ibrahim’s camps in Pakatan Harapan.

“Our stand is clear. We will not link up with any of them.

“The public has punished Umno and BN in the last general election and we are now in the process of rebuilding. We will return with positive changes and it will be in line with what the people want,” he said after chairing the Youth wing’s monthly meeting at Umno headquarters today.

He was commenting on a series of videos allegedly showing Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali having sex, which went viral last week.

Haziq has said that he and Azmin were the men in the videos. Azmin has denied it is him in the clips.

Police are investigating the tapes after the two of them filed reports.

Asyraf described the videos as despicable and giving an ugly picture of Malaysian politics.

Factionalism in PKR has resulted in talk that Azmin is Dr Mahathir’s ally in his power struggle with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

The economic affairs minister, however, has gone to great lengths to make it clear that he would never betray Anwar.

Meanwhile, Asyraf said Umno Youth must focus on issues that affect the public, such as the economy, and cost of living, was continues to spiral upward.

He said exco members will be assigned specific portfolios and they would monitor the situation.

“They will give constructive views based on Umno’s experience in governing the country,” he said. – June 20, 2019.
