INVESTIGATION papers on the alleged assault of a PKR research officer by a state party leader will be handed to the deputy public prosecutor for further action, said Selangor police.

Selangor criminal investigation chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said police have completed their investigations and classified the case as causing injuries and criminal intimidation.

“We have recorded statements from all parties involved and have completed our investigations.

“The investigation papers will be forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor for the next course of action,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

The alleged assault was reported to have taken place on May 16 at PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s office in Bukit Gasing, Petaling Jaya.

The victim was an unnamed volunteer researcher aged 26 who accused Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, who is also political secretary to Anwar, of beating him.

Reports said the two had quarrelled before Farhash allegedly turned violent and beat the volunteer, who sustained a fracture.

The victim subsequently lodged a police report on May 26, also producing a medical report from a private hospital.

Anwar’s press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Tunku Abaidah, disputed the extent of injuries suffered by the complainant.

He said the man was a drug user and had trespassed into the office.

He added the man was a volunteer researcher who had been sacked. – June 19, 2019.
