NAJIB Razak’s trial has been adjourned to tomorrow morning to allow his lawyers to check for contradictions in the testimony of former SRC International Sdn Bhd chairman Ismee Ismail, who has been on the stand for four days.

The defence team is concerned with Ismee’s testimony, the 39th witness, that SRC International’s board of directors followed the resolutions made by company shareholders.

It is alleged that his testimony is different to what he had said in his witness statement.

Earlier in the week, when he was reading his witness statement, Ismee said the board of directors had followed the advice of Najib, who was the advisor emeritus of SRC International.

Lead defence lawyer Shafee Abdullah told Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali that the team needs to look at witness transcripts from the past week to see if there are contradictions.

“We need to look at SRC International’s board of director resolutions again and study the transcript thus far, on the need of the board to take instructions from Najib.”

Shafee said the defence team requires consultation among themselves before deciding the next course of action with the prosecution.

Deputy public prosecutor V. Sithambaram, who is the prosecution’s lead counsel, has agreed to the application to adjourn proceedings to tomorrow.

Nazlan has allowed the trial to resume tomorrow at 9am.
