THE owner of a private company, arrested as part of a corruption probe into a RM135 million bribe in a military procurement contract for armoured vehicles, has been remanded for another four days.
The 39-year-old with a “Datuk Seri” title was slapped with an extended remand order by magistrate Atiqah Abu Hassan after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sought an extension this morning.
He was first arrested on May 20 at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
The anti-graft agency is investigating the case involving federal funds for the purchase of the RM7.5 billion AV8 armoured vehicles and the RM155 million AV4 vehicles.
The procurement contract was awarded between 2014 and 2017.
To date, MACC has questioned and remanded four individuals, including the 39-year-old company owner.
Two others are the CEO and CFO of Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech), which is owned by DRB Hicom Bhd. Both are out on bail.
DRB Hicom said in a statement it will cooperate fully with the authorities. – May 23, 2019.
